Yonder Stage
Jungle Love Festival, 2016
White corflute, pool noodles, plywood.
In collaboration with Blair Foley for Jungle Love Festival, the Yonder Stage was designed and pre-fabricated in Brisbane.
The Yonder Stage is a dynamic celebration of the stunning scenery surrounding the greater Imbil area, where Jungle Love is based. Highlighting the festivals strong environmental roots, and ‘leave no trace’ policy, we took inspiration from the natural world as a basis for the design.
With resources from the National Library of Australia, we studied the topography of the Festival site, and carefully chose various land ascents and descents we wanted to replicate around the facade of the stage. Using layers of materials stacked upon one another to build these topographies, we have literally built the landscape around the performers of the festival. Successfully connecting revelry with terrain, man with nature.
As the sun passes over the stage during the day, the shadows cast will shift and change, leaving the look of the stage in complete organic flux. In the evenings, Laserface Media will project onto each of the individual layers of the land masses, showcasing a stunning light show of colour and pattern.
